Singer-songwriters Sunny War and Chris Pierce were introduced by mutual friend Jared Faber, a musician and producer, who thought that the three could make music together. The three convened in Faber’s Silver Lake studio, and out of those sessions came the songs on War and Pierce’s self-titled debut EP. Two singles—“On and On” and “Amen”—have followed, with the group continuing to refine its blend of Americana, funk, and soul, which is built on War’s prodigious guitar work and incisive songwriting and Pierce’s soulful energy and honest storytelling.
