Volunteer museum guides are passionate lifelong learners who provide guided tours for school and youth groups. You don’t need a musical background to apply—training covers everything a guide needs to know.

Complete an orientation for new volunteers and a meet-and-greet for museum guide candidates.
Complete a 5½ week initial training. Class will meet on Mondays and Thursdays February 15–March 21 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Lead fun, engaging tours of MIM’s galleries for kids of all ages.

Training was a blast. The instruments easily lend themselves to education, but learning how to impart that information during a tour in a relatively short time frame to antsy 3rd graders isn’t really intuitive to most of us! But we were given the tools and the practice opportunities to make it happen.
