Los Angeles–based guitar player and singer Ana Popovic is back on the road promoting her new triple album, Trilogy. Her most ambitious project yet, Trilogy is three albums in one, with twenty-three funk, rock/blues, and jazz tunes.
Popovic was born in Belgrade, Serbia (formerly Yugoslavia), and grew up in a family where music was very important. All throughout her youth, her father would invite friends over for nightly jam sessions. In this atmosphere, she quickly learned of her father’s impressive blues and soul record collection; she soon grabbed his guitar and started playing at the age of fifteen. Since then, she has developed into a phenomenal guitarist and vocalist with a growing legion of fans throughout the world.
With the help of her powerful band, Popovic has tirelessly toured around the globe, playing major blues, jazz, and rock festivals. She has received the corporate endorsements of Fender, D’Angelico, Jim Dunlop, and DR Strings. She has also shared headlining stages with B. B. King, Joe Bonamassa, Gary Clark Jr., and many others. Popovic has been nominated for five Blues Music Awards and appeared on the cover of Guitar Player and Vintage Guitar Magazine. She was the sole female guitarist featured in the nationwide Experience Hendrix Tour, alongside the likes of Buddy Guy, Bootsy Collins, and Jonny Lang. Her albums Can You Stand the Heat (2013) and Unconditional (2011) were both “Picks of the Week” by USA Today and featured on NPR Music. Nearly all of Popovic’s albums made it to the Top 5 Billboard Blues Charts and are being played regularly on the radio.
She is one of the most popular female blues guitar players in the world.
