Front Country Out of the San Francisco Bay Area, Front Country plays acoustic string instruments with a sensibility that is far from the backcountry. They have merged their acoustic sound with a pop aesthetic, writing and arranging songs that are simultaneously intricate and infectious.
“Their music [Front Country] occupies a hinterland that extends much further than bluegrass, . . . the missing link between Punch Brothers and the Penguin Café Orchestra and even extends to the progressive rock of Family and King Crimson”—The Herald (Scotland, UK)
The O’Connor Band featuring Mark O’Connor The GRAMMY-winning O’Connor Band, featuring iconic fiddler and composer Mark O’Connor, puts on an engaging, dynamic show showcasing compelling arrangements, virtuosic solos, and tight vocal harmonies. Their debut album, Coming Home, reached number one on Billboard’s Top Bluegrass Albums chart in 2016 and won Best Bluegrass Album at the 59th Annual GRAMMY Awards in 2017. In addition to Mark, the band features Maggie O’Connor (fiddle/vocals), Forrest O’Connor (mandolin/guitar/vocals), and Kate Lee (fiddle/vocals) as well as Joe Smart (guitar) and Geoff Saunders (bass/banjo).
Accolades for the band, from music critics and musical peers ranging from Béla Fleck and Rosanne Cash to producers and music executives, have been profuse. “I was stunned. This is the best band I have seen in decades. The best musicians. The most entertaining show and the most fun I have had in years,” said John Mason, attorney for Smokey Robinson, Shakira, and Olivia Newton-John.
Sonic beauty delivered through the tightness of a family band that’s as comfortable delivering bluegrass as orchestrally-inflected Appalachian music. . . . The O’Connor Band hands us a stunning debut, filled with moments of quiet beauty, lovingly played with passion and delight.
