Chartrand’s brilliant combination of folk and Americana, with a touch of Southern rock, country and jazz, creates some of the sweetest sounds around.
Three Arizona-based artists join together in the first performance of a series highlighting the songwriting talent of Phoenix’s own.
Brian Chartrand’s projects—Live from Laurel Canyon, the Sweet Remains, and the Project—have solidified his status as a local and national talent. Equally comfortable performing in a myriad of ensembles, Chartrand shines as a songwriter, bringing a masterful and sensitive touch to heartfelt lyrics. He has been making music in Phoenix, Arizona, since 2003.
Based out of Phoenix, Mat Weddle has been playing music as Obadiah Parker since 2005. Driven by a popular YouTube video of a live performance, his cover of “Hey Ya” became a breakout hit in 2007, topping the iTunes singer-songwriter charts for the year. With the following 2008 EP, The Tip Jar, Vol. I, Parker built a strong internet following with soulful vocals and his ability to cover a variety of tunes with a unique style.
Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, singer-songwriter, drummer, and percussionist Miguel Melgoza began playing music professionally after moving to Phoenix. Melgoza co-founded the Latin trio Cascabel and found success writing songs for nationally syndicated TV programs including The Shield and CSI: Miami. He plays solo several nights a week on acoustic guitar and vocals, as well as backing up some of the Valley’s best artists on drums or percussion.
