Ester Rada is bringing new potential to the world of soul, potential that’s born out of a voice and lyrics steeped in two cultures. Born and raised in Israel with an Ethiopian heritage, Rada has tapped deep into her cultural backgrounds to fuel her work. Her music blends soul, jazz, funk, R&B, and Ethiopian influences together with a voice that can easily range from tender to strong, making her a sensational musician who has only just entered the scene.
Rada’s worldwide popularity has taken off across Europe, the United States, and Canada after growing steadily in Israel. She has opened for Alicia Keys, recently performed at the Glastonbury Festival in the United Kingdom, and was also nominated for an MTV Europe Music Award for Best Israeli Act.
“Even though she has only recently emerged, her blend of Ethio-jazz, funk, soul and R&B are drawing positive attention from the critics. Her fusion with the urban styles of African-American soul is carving her a place on the world stage.”—Time Out Magazine
“Blessed with a soaring, immensely powerful and velvety voice, Rada´s soulful compositions take funky R&B grooves and add light jazzy Ethiopian flairs.”—ChicagoMusic.orgBack to Concerts
