Summer 2014 Concert Series
sponsored in part by:
Ben Sollee joins the musicians reinventing the downtown Phoenix chamber music scene for a special performance spanning styles from folk to classical. Sollee’s music marries a sometimes-unconventional take on the cello to a gritty but plaintive voice. His soul-searching, which travels across the genres of folk, bluegrass, and R&B, sets him apart as an utterly unique musician.
Sollee has performed with several other remarkable musicians, including Béla Fleck, the Turtle Island String Quartet, and Time for Three. National Public Radio included him in its “Top Ten Great Unknown Artists” list for 2008. Sollee’s is the latest in several partnerships the Downtown Chamber Series has forged in its efforts to bring classical and contemporary chamber music to new audiences and locations.
