Singer-songwriter and guitarist David Wilcox offers a lyrical insight that is matched by a smooth baritone voice, virtuosic guitar chops, and creative open tunings, giving him a range and tenderness that combine soft jazz and folk styles. Cleveland-born Wilcox was inspired to play guitar after hearing a fellow college student playing in a stairwell. He released an independent album in 1987, won the prestigious Kerrville Folk Festival New Folk award in 1988, and signed with A&M Records in 1989. His first release on the label, How Did You Find Me Here, sold over 100,000 copies the first year largely by word of mouth. Now, seventeen albums into his career, Wilcox is often compared to James Taylor and John Martyn and has built a solid fan base for his well-crafted folk-pop tunes.
“His songs are tender little acoustic vignettes of everyday life, focused examinations of individual frailties and triumphs. “—Phoenix New Times
“Thoughtful and meticulous.”—The Dallas Observer
